JUNE 24TH & 25TH, 11A-5P, SEATTLE CENTER EXHIBITION HALL
We’ve participated in Urban Craft Uprising, a great event showcasing artisans of all backgrounds. It’s very family friendly with lots to see and explore.
As part of their promotions, the asked us a few Q&As. Read below to get to know us a bit better and come say hello to us!
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Lindsay Lawrence, a Seattle born and raised world traveler, sailor and lover of the outdoors. Inspired by the outdoor equipment I used while hiking, I wanted to design a range of stylish but reliable eco-friendly products for the outdoor enthusiast to use in their urban lifestyle. Having been involved with sailing both professionally and recreationally, I witnessed the durability of sail material before it was sent to landfill so I decided to give it a new lease of life as the major ingredient in Metamorphic Gear’s products.
What is upcycling?
Metamorphic is a company built on equal parts adventure and conscience. Every one of our bags are made of more than 75% upcycled materials, designed in Seattle, and handcrafted in the USA. We use sails, climbing rope and trucking tarp, washed and crafted into durable gear to get you to your next adventure. We believe whole-heartedly that your gear should be as unique as you and your adventure. Upcycling to us means an entirely different thing. The tarpaulin, the ropes, the craft – every piece has had a life rich with experience.
What do you love best about the craft show experience?
Our customers fall in love with our products as soon as they can handle them and see the high quality details and craftsmanship. This isn’t something easily translated in an online image. The energy and excitement while connecting with our shoppers is what keeps us coming back to craft fairs.
What is your favorite new product for 2015?
The Quartz Dopp Kits are new to our line of upcycled products. They are water resistant, durable pouches with zippered tops to fit accessories or necessities. We have seen them filled with toiletries for trips, snacks for briefcases, soothers for a diaper bag, and even surfboard wax for a gear bag! With three sizes to choose from, they are a brightly colored, functional piece to add to your existing bag.
What has surprised you most about your products this year?
We love seeing how our customers use our products in unique ways that we hadn’t expected. Receiving those photos or notes renews our sense of excitement for the versatility and durability of our gear!
